Your details, kept small and simple
This note explains what happens to the details you send through the request form on this site. It's written in plain English on purpose. If anything is unclear, email hello@fernwire.co.za.
Who is responsible
Yushir Maharaj, trading as Fernwire, South Africa. Contact: hello@fernwire.co.za.
What I collect, and why
Only what you type into the request form: your name, email address, WhatsApp number if you choose to give it, your answers to the three questions, and your message. I use these for one thing: replying to you about your request.
The site itself sets no tracking cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts.
Where your details go
Your request isn't stored in a database. It's sent as an email to my inbox, and you get a short confirmation email. Three services handle it on the way:
- Cloudflare hosts the site and runs Turnstile, a privacy-friendly check that stops spam bots.
- Resend delivers the emails.
- Proton provides my inbox.
Some of these services process data outside South Africa. I chose them partly because they take privacy seriously. I don't sell or share your details with anyone else.
How long I keep them
If we work together, I keep our emails for as long as the project and any follow-up need them. If we don't, I delete your request within 12 months.
Your rights
Under POPIA you can ask to see the details I hold about you, have them corrected, or have them deleted. Just email me. If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Regulator.
